How to factory reset your Motorola smartphone?

Welcome to Blackview store, which offers cheap rugged phone, portable home power station, China tablet, TWS earbuds, etc. Hope this guide helps.

A factory reset restores your Motorola (Moto) phone to its original settings, erasing all personal data, apps, and configurations. This can be useful if your device is malfunctioning, running slowly, or if you plan to sell or give it away. Before proceeding, ensure you back up important files, as this process cannot be undone. Below, we’ll guide you through two methods: resetting from the Settings menu (if the phone is accessible) and using Recovery Mode (if the phone is unresponsive).

Method 1: Factory Reset via Settings (When Phone is Working)

Step 1: Back Up Your Data

Before resetting, save your contacts, photos, and other important files to Google Drive, an SD card, or a computer.

Step 2: Open Settings

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the gear icon (⚙️) to open Settings.

  2. Scroll down and select System.

Step 3: Select "Reset Options"

  1. Tap Reset options (or Backup & reset on older models).

  2. Choose Erase all data (factory reset).

Step 4: Confirm the Reset

  1. The phone will display a warning—tap Erase all data.

  2. If prompted, enter your PIN, pattern, or password.

  3. Finally, tap Erase everything.

Your phone will restart and begin the reset process, which may take a few minutes.

Method 2: Factory Reset via Recovery Mode (If Phone Won’t Boot)

If your Moto phone is frozen or won’t turn on, use Recovery Mode to reset it.

Step 1: Power Off the Phone

  1. Hold the Power button until the device turns off.

  2. If the phone is unresponsive, press and hold Power + Volume Down for 10 seconds to force a shutdown.

Step 2: Boot into Recovery Mode

  1. Press and hold Power + Volume Down simultaneously.

  2. When the Boot Mode Selection screen appears, use the Volume buttons to navigate to Recovery Mode and press the Power button to select it.

  3. If you see an Android robot with "No command," hold Power + Volume Up briefly to enter the menu.

Step 3: Perform the Factory Reset

  1. Use the Volume buttons to highlight Wipe data/factory reset and press the Power button to confirm.

  2. Select Yes to confirm.

  3. Once complete, choose Reboot system now.

Your phone will restart as if it were new.

After the Reset

  • Set up your phone by logging into your Google account.

  • Restore your data from a backup if needed.

  • Reinstall apps from the Play Store.

Final Thoughts

A factory reset can solve many software issues, but it permanently deletes all data. Always back up before proceeding. If problems persist after resetting, contact Motorola Support for further assistance.
